John Sullivan, MFA
John Sullivan’s work stems from his interest in psychology, neuropsychology, and interpersonal relationships. His research explores the themes and issues surrounding dysfunctional relationships, psychological disorders, and the transformative process of healing. Inspired by an interest in performance work, he has begun to rethink the format of jewelry as objects that can affect the wearer and invoke emotional responses. Recreating the psychosomatic symptoms and emotional toll of mental illness, he investigates form, scale, and weight, both on and off the body. This somber act of attempting to carry the oppressive embodiment of past trauma speaks to the emotional baggage we all carry.
