Madison Consolato, BFA
Through drawing Madison Consolato makes sense of an absurd and complicated world. She combines traditional cloisonné enamel techniques with lowbrow doodles for the technical challenge, psychic release and as an act of rebellion. While the imagery itself may be seen as simplistic or crude, it is rendered through a historically grounded technique and painstaking process. This high/low paradox allows her to indulge an infantile sense of humor with a critical eye toward the over-serious culture of present-day American society. She invites the viewer to confront and embrace the idiocracy.
