The balance between object and jewelry in Marin Neuhard’s work challenges abject discomfort in pursuit of ornamentation. The mount acts as a contextual resting place for the piece when off the body. Neuhard mediates discomfort and disgust through hand craft allowing her to confront the abject with patient observation. By using a range of techniques, she creates trompe-l'œil objects that suspend the process of decay in the domestic setting. The work offers a space where curiosity triumphs over repulsion.
