Talula Evan Baer creates objects imbued with a sense of absence—vessels, shells, and fragments of a larger whole, straddling the boundaries between reality and fantasy. They engage with the grotesque, embodying juxtapositions of empathy and disgust, fear and fascination. Distorted representations of anthropomorphic forms accentuate aspects of sensory experience and physicality. Tubes suggest circulation, tributaries and intersections. By positioning these objects with structural supports, they are transformed into specimens – meticulously mounted, cleaned, and displayed for close inspection.
